In your case(your tank is 26"), if I were you, when all the things are ready, clean the tank and all equipment first, then add fresh water only into your tank; lets the water running/cycling about 2~3 days. Release all/most of the water, add new water with salt and running about 2 days also. Afterwards, you can go to fs to find for test fishes, buy 2~3 fishes that are about 1" size(don't buy so big), pay attention when you are choosing your test fishes; if you've any suspect on the health of your target fish, don't buy it. Pre-treatment is needed before you release your fishes in tank. Put your fishes with the bag/bags on your tank and wait for 30 mins, if you afraid the oxygen inside is insufficient, 20 mins maybe ok. Open the bag and release 1/3 water inside, then fill in the same amount of tank water; close the bag and let it float on the tank; then wait for about 10~15 mins, release 1/2 of water in the bag and refill the same amount tank water into it and also wait for another 10~15 mins. Then, you finish the "change water" procedure. If you know how to perfrom a fresh water bath or you've TDC, just let your fishes have a fresh water bath or TDC bath before you let them free in your tank. After release all your fishes, feed less and change water more frequently if it is needed. Pay attention and observe them, don't add any fish since then and wait for the N-cycle finish, this period is about 1 month time. Good Luck! P.S. I can't type chinese in office, sorry for any inconvenient cause |
