Look very closely at tail and fins of your fish for very fine sugar-powdered sized white spots, if you find it, your fish has Velvet. Velvet can totally cover the gills and suffocate the fish, it's a fast killer. Perform Hyposalinity and add copper if you don't have LiveRocks. The other possibility is that there's a sudden drop in pH in your tank to cause your fish to breathe rapidly, if that's the case, buffer water with Kent Marine dKH buffer..... slowly drip to tank.
