The 假滴流 at the left side of the tank is divided into 3 compartments - 1st compartment with some cotton, second one with bio-rings (borrow from the main tank when the QT is in use) and the third compartment with the return pump and tubing to return the water from the 假滴流 to the tank

The volume of the QT is about 25L, with only essential equipment - a set of FL tube, an air pump and a heater. No skimmer is being installed. When in use, water is introduced from the main tank to it (no white spots in main tank) and two to three bundles of bio-rings (max. capacity - 6 bundles) which is in use at the main tank is placed temporarily to the QT. I have so far used it to quarantine my two juvenile Queen Angels (2.5" and 3"), my 火背仙 and my father's Flame Angel. Also, during the quarantine process of my larger juvenile Queen, I have performed hyposalinity and also applied TDC at this QT. So far the performance of the tank is excellent. The only draw back is that for quarantining larger fish, water change will probably be required. After completing the quarantine process, the tank and the equipment is cleaned, dried and stored. So there is no worry of bacteria/ virus settling in the QT and re-infect other new fish

When you have eliminate the white spots in your tank, you may consider installing a similar QT for quarantining new fishes before allowing them to go into the main tank. By doing so, you will find that white spots will never be your problem again

Seems the Q-Tank is not easy to make, especially, I had no experience in putting up anything similar. And my tank is assembled by Bun Lau and I only did simple assembly after delivery. Should learn more on this.

Maybe I could use your photo and ask the local fish store (in TM) to assemble one. Is the filtration good enough for a few weeks? How often do you make water changes for the Qtank?

I had looked at the H&S external skimmer. But I think my sump do not have sufficient place for that model. Any other suggestion with smaller size?

hi nebula,
sorry, i don't understand your point.

actually, my current skimmer is also external, the outflow of the skimmer actually (like in your diagram), goes to the last chamber directly. And the last chamber had many bio-balls (also like in your diagram), then to the underwater pump. any problem with my current setup?

my skimmer do not skim a lot of dark dirt... but sometimes, it comes out with very few dirt and light in color. is this normal for the newness of my tank? or that means the skimmer is not effective?

Applied 2nd dosage of SB-02 today. Both Blue Tang & Purple Moon had many white dots.
