Hi Sherwin, glad to see the gradual increase of inhabitants in your tank

As for your wish list, the larger species are find but it may not be advisable to add draft angels like Flame/ Lemon Peel in tanks with many large angels. They could become stressful easily and refuse to eat sometimes. But if you would like to keep draft angels, Flame is amongst the easiest ones

hi hong sir,

you're absolutely right. I had tried flame angel twice already, releasing it to main tank after it eats. But when it enters the main tank, it hides all the time and starve to ...

btw, have u seen any good emperors? it's really hard to keep one for long and the longest one I have is still less than 2 months... frustrating...

Have saw one sometime last month at Chuen Ho which was from Maldive(sp?). Very good shape and colour but huge in size (about 9-10"), so have not called you...shall call you once find a good one lar

my major concern is how to maintain such a big system, especially, when performing regular water changes and fresh water addition...

i do feel little pain when changing 60L water every other weekend now. can't imagine how hard it is, to change 2-3 times as much water every other week.

康sir, how do u do that? and how much time do u spent on each water changes?

Maintaining a large system is more or less the same as a 200L - 300L tank, though the initial set up cost and the costs of maintanence will of course proportionately higher

I used to change about 160L every two weeks before installing the Sulphur denitrator. I have a bucket of 120L and I will pre-fill it with DI freshwater (need 50 minute or so), mixed it with salt...then start changing water by using a pump connected to a plastic pipe which is placed so that the waste water can exit through the "ma tung". After removing the right amount of water, than rearrange the pipe/pump to pump the pre-filled water to the tank. When the bucket got empty, fill another 40L, mix it with salt and pump it to the tank as well. The whole process needs about 2 to 2.5 hours. After installation of the denitrator (and before it being clotted by dirts

), the frequency of water change greatly decrease to about 1 time per two months.

Recently, I have switched to using flush water

as an experiment for the effect of "natural" sea water on the colour keeping of Queen/Townsend/Blue Angels. As there is no need to mix salt and wait for the slow flow needed for DI, I am now changing about 60% of water a time per two weeks and the time needed is about 2 hours also

I am 康仔, not 康sir lar

I do not use any filter material before putting the flush water to the tank (as indicated in my 水箱, there appears to be not so much sludge in my flush water supply). However, as WSD and the management co. will certainly add chlorine or other chemicals to prevent crustaceans to settle in the system/sterize the flush water (that why I could find no trail of algae/ bacteria membrane in the 水箱), I would add dechlorinating chemicals to neutralize the flush water before putting them to the tank.

eventually bought an Bali Emperor yesterday

the size is too big and my q-tank is not sufficient, thus taking risk and put in the main tank directly.
