I am now doing my planning for the tank setup, and I would love to get some valuable advises from you (and other experts here) before putting the plan into actions. I only started browsing this forum a month ago and prior to that, I have no knowledge on keeping fish what so ever.. Due to the space constraint, I am now only trying to set up a 14"x9"x12" small tank, and my plan is to ultimately have 1.5" small fish x 4, a doctor shrimp, some reefs with living rocks. (pls tell me if this is even achievable). The equipment I am planning to get are as follows: - 14" tank - Top light x 2 tubes - Top filter system - Small size external filter (濾筒) with capacity of 300L/hr - One air pumb for water current - Warm tube Equipment to be acquired as second step: - Small protein skimmer - cooler, when summer time comes So here are my questions - 1. Do you think my goal can be achieved with such a small tank (for a beginner like myself)? 2. Are the equipments I am planning to get good enough? Will you recommand anything in addition or if there are any redundancies? 3. Due the the size of the tank, I do not see too many skimmer that fits into it except the very small dinky ones (selling for around $30). Do you think it will work, or is it just a waste of space and money? Thanks in advance for taking the time to assist. Much appreciated!! For such a small tank that I have no experience on, I think one can keep one fish and one shrimp only. In fact I do not recommend new hand start with a small tank. It requires experience that you are lacking. The small skimmer is effective. But as you have mentioned it occupies valuable space in the small tank. The whole idea is not worth while. |
