I have just reinstalled everything in my PC and just cannot type Chinese yet. I have no idea how much the price difference between HK and the PRC. However, some hobbyists have found out that the 9W model is RMB240 in the PRC. ( I have no idea where that shop is) Please refer to hksaltfish.com and someone has mentioned it somewhere (use 'search' function in that forum). Regarding point 5, it is because I have a quarantine tank. I will first quarantee new fish before transferring them to the Main Tank. Because I have a secondary tank (q-tank), there is no reason for me to risk putting new fish directly into the main tank. I have written something about UV in hksaltfish and it is only my opinion. Again, please search the article. The volume of water is much much more in the main tank than in the q-tank, therefore in simple term, UV is much more useful if used in the q-tank. I shall say no more about this. Any bacteria / living passes through UV would be killed. However, there is very little bacteria in the water and most of which dwell in the sand, bio-ring, rocks and UV cannot reach them. Don't worry! If 120L is your tank, you can buy the 9W model which is HK$390. However, the slower the water flow rate the more efficient the sterilization. I would recommend a flow rate of no more than 500L/hour. (just my opinion) Lastly and repeatedly, UV is most effectively if used in quarantine tank. The reason of me using a 18W UV in the main tank is to kill algae (it is doing a great job). However, I also have another 9W UV in my 30L quarantine tank and I really rely on it to quarantee new fishes there. I have also posted pictures of my KEMA 9W UV in this forum. Please look for it. |
