46 于 2004-09-07 09:53      Hi Benson, if my memory is correct, sure-start will make tank water cloudy for a day or two but many other factors will also make water cloudy. So far if the fishes are okay, there is little problem as the water will turn back to normal sooner or later. The rise of NO2 indicates that the 1st group of nitro-bacteria which is responsible for turning NH3 to NO2 is functioning. As the second group which turns NO2 to NO3 starts to grow at a later stage, you shall continue to observe the surge of concentration of NO2. Keep it at 2-2.5 ppm and change part of the water if the concentration exceed the upper limit will ensure that N-cycle can be completed within a reasonable period of time and that no "Open tank" fishes shall die during the process. No idea regarding the rise of PH though. 我的爛相簿

47 于 2004-10-12 01:26           Hi All Big Brother, My tank water has been "Burst Red" for nearly 30 days la........Can tell why ma ?? Is it normal ?? During this period, I have added 3 x Sure-start, 1 large and 1 small bottle of AC, change water (for last and this week only) for around 10% each time............still can't "push" the NO2 level down...........why nei ?? I have a "strawberry" disappeared in the tank........i believe it has dead......however, I can't find its dead body wor........is it the reason why the NO2 level is so high and so long period ?? (p.s. I have taken out all the dead "rock" to find him........but can't find anything.....!! Many thanks for all Big Brother !! Benson.

NH3/NH4- = nearly 0 ppm....very low in amount N02 = "Burst Red" N03 = very low in amount My new tank has set up for more than 2 months and the "Burst Red" situation has last for more than 50 days............ Is it possible that my tank can only culture 1 strain of N-bacteria...(from NH3 to NO2).....but not for NO2 to NO3....?? I have used AB, Bio-digest, Cycle before........it seems that it doesn't help........ Can anyone help ?? Thanks x 1,000,000, 000,000 !!
