Just some little advice

If I were you, I would change the sump so that it can be used to house bio-rings/skimmer/pumps for various equipment. The efforts should not be very large (I have DIY my two sumps for two times, the second time with 15+ fishes already in the tank and the time constraint for completing the removal was about 4 hours

). Suggest the compartments be divided as follow-

1st chamber - place a powerful skimmer (I would still recommend H&S 110 than Jetskim 100 if your would continue keeping large angel fishes). Place a 棉格 (don't submerge the cotton in water) at the top of the 1st compartment to pre-filter the water from the main tank before it is filtered by the skimmer.

2nd chamber - ample space for lots of bio-rings (I am using 3L sera and 9L common bio-rings [and 1050 pcs of Aqua Chargers plus lots of bioballs in the 滴流槽]. These amount seem to be sufficient for my 20 up angel fishes

(6.5"up - 5 pc, 4"up - 3 pc, the rest are around 3"-3.5")).

3rd chamber - return pump/ equipment(heater, PH meter) and pumps for them (cooler/UV etc.)

Apart from the change of sump, I would suggest that the population be confined to moderate level (with 10-12 pcs angelfishes at most for 40" tank, maximum of 3-4 pcs that are 5"-6" in size, others being smaller such as 3"-4" so that the production rate of waste would not be too high that will cause stress to fishes.

好的生物環和skimmer當然係好....
不過你最要注意的是你加魚的速度....
就算你有齊晒最好的生物環和skimmer,如果你照舊一星期落三,四條魚的話,我敢說你一定會take 4..take 5..take .. again....

期實養魚的其中一個樂趣,便是買魚,加魚. 要慢慢來才可享受養魚的樂趣

2~3 weeks 1 angel lar. QT minimum 2~3 weeks monitoring .

if u learn lazy from me u will very slow add fish lor .
8~9 months tank only 6 fish

sherwing, don't set your target at a level so low...you should aim at no Take 4 (safe for changing a larger tank

)

As cIownfish and TungTung have pointed out, you have been adding fish too fast (and the fishes too large). You should aim at adding fishes by about 1 month intervals at the beginning (This should be easily achieved if you would quarantine the new fish, since the process itself would take up at least two, better to three weeks) and the size of the fishes so added should be smaller ones (I recommend 3" or below). After your tank has housed 3-4 3" fishes, continue to add by 1 month interval for another 2-3 4"~5" fishes. After that, the interval can be shorten a bit, but I would recommend no shorter than 3 weeks. The effect in adding fish too fast will not be very obvious but definitely disastrous (the major cause of the last fiasco of your tank was indeed largely due to this reason). Add another 1~2 6"~7" fishes and your tank's maximum capacity will be reached (You may ask there are many tanks similar to the size of yours which housed a dozen more that I have mentioned...I am not saying this is not possible but you would poses your fishes at the risk of over-keeping in which the survival of the fishes is so heavily relied on the proper functioning of the equipment in which suspension of electricity supply/ malfunctioning of return-pump etc. would result in disaster so quickly that little time would be left to you for remedy

Yes, sherwing, I notice that you have reduced the size and number of your targets lar...try to adhere to the principle of adding smaller ones and the bigger ones later

Some further comments - you may wish to add the tough ones first (紫月 3", 藍面 3" and 阿拉伯 3"), then the 粉吊 3" and then follow by the larger ones(better in the sequence 法仙 6", 皇帝 6" and then 藍仙 6")...The above is contrary to my earlier suggestion

, as 火焰仙 2", 太后 3" are very weak species and will die easily if the environment is not stable, so have to be added at the end...and 一幢仙 3" might begin to show aggressiveness, so add it at last...Since your tank will have 6 pcs 3"~4" fishes when adding the larger ones, the amount of N-bacteria shall be able to endure the increase in nitrogenous waste produced by the 6" fish, though there will be still chance of stress on the existing ones since the waste products of one 6" fish is far more than several 3" fishes...so discuss further when you reach that stage lar

just bought a new phone for instantly taking any fish photo easier, the first one is my 藍紋. Seems to have slight water mark.

Now main tank had,

紫月 4" (2nd hand, 1/2 month)
法仙 5" (new)

藍面 3" (May suffer from 鰓虫... Treated in Q Tank with SB-01)

Update update:

Main tank,
藍吊 3" (1+ month)
紫月 4" (1 month la !!) - from fish friend
法仙 5" (1/2 month la !!)
一幢仙 3" (1/2 month la !!)

Q Tank 1,
藍紋 4" (3 days)

Reef Tank (as Q Tank 2)
粉吊 3" (3 days) - One of my favorite !!

All were eating well. But 藍紋 had watermark in q tank.
