How can you be sure that the water output of your canister filter is the same as the powerhead?

What I mean is -
If water output of canister > powerhead
water will be drawn from the main tank to the sump and cumulate there leading to overflow of the sump.

It water output of canister < powerhead
sump water will be drawn away and the powerhead is running without water and it will be damaged.

Another point is the second partition is too high and water level has to rise up so that the bio-balls will soak in water. It is undesirable.

Agree with LC. It wouldn't work at all and it will risk of burning the canister filter or overflowing.

BTW, I have a new overflow box from CPR. Similar in design of Schuran but cheaper. Check it out:

You can try to drill a hole by yourself. From Cody's description, it seems easy and practical. But I never have a try.

我覺得最好搵D冇用的玻璃來熟下手先, 除非你係Cody等高手, haha.個缸得一次機會轉ga jar.

Use of canister to drive water to sump is no good because the water flow speed of canister is not the same as return pump. You will only end up with one outcome - water flooding the floor.

Water flow:
canister > sump return pump - sump will be flooded
sump return pump > canister - tank will be flooded
Both end up water on the floor.

It is impossible to synchronize (make identical) the water flow of canister and sump return pump. Motors will deteriate in performance over time.
