The Scientific name of 藍崧子 is called Nephtheis fascicularis. The Common name is Lollipop Coral. It belongs to Subphylum tunicata ,classes ascidiacea.
Lollipop Coral is a filter feeder and is difficult ot keep in longevity. The best chance of survivial is in aquarium with biological filtration but without protein skimming. Also light could be important as many ascidians are restricted to shady microhabitats such as cave, undercuts and on the underside of coral boulder. The growth form of lollipop coral is colonies of zooids grow as conical or cylindrical heads at the end of firm,thick stalks. Colour is variable, some are opaque blue, sometimes dark green and yellow and sometimes translucent. The colony of lollipop coral is observed to shed the zooid bearing heads regularly,but regenerated them in 3 days in aquarium. Sufficient water movement and suspended organic food are factors that affect the maintenance of this delicated animal. It is better to keep in aquarium without grazing animal as well. According to the experience of adcanced aquarist, they found that ascidians would grow in an aquarium for several months and even reproduce, but then suddenly, and without any visible cause, disappear.
