Disability of Ehim 2227 wet/dry function

Last night, suddenly lots of bubbles came out from the 2777 and then water expelled from the middle air tube. We thought that maybe the canister soiled and the tubes was clogged. But after cleaning it the wet/dry function didn't work. Any suggestions?

Filter media: big bottle of AC + 3 litres of bio-rings.

Will the n-bacteria die, 'cos no oxygen passing through the canister?

你睇下發泡膠係係上方既下方.. 如果係下方..
仲有發泡膠下有個膠圈.. 用黎塞住個底既抽水口.. 睇下有冇唔見到

你睇下發泡膠係係上方既下方.. 如果係下方.. --- Can't get what you mean??

仲有發泡膠下有個膠圈.. 用黎塞住個底既抽水口.. 睇下有冇唔見到 -- The first time we clean only the canister and haven't open that part. But the bubble-form already stopped moving up & down. So may not because of this. But will check it up tonight.

i am 2227 user too

to remedy, i suggest you

1. replace the filter sponge, it may get clogged after prolonged period
and
i suggest using the eheim filter sponge($5x)/pad
cos' 2227/2229 , being wet/dry, is unlike conventional canister filter.
as such, ordinary and , cheap filter sponge in particular can easy get clogged
and afftect its performance.

2. it may be the case under which some gas is trapped in the hose reel
if it is the case, you may have to empty the hose reel.
(just as you newly installed the filter)
it may require you sucking the output hose once again to start the siphon

I also have the same problem and the water come out from the small middle pipe, I also tried to replaced all cotton but the water will be came out again within one week. I also using the Eheim spouge and the is the same !
Now, I give up and changed to new canister without wet/dry.

DKNY..就係個桶會有一段短時間內吸滿水之後再一次過排出... 咁內裡既野就會一時浸晒一時冇浸..仲有排完水後充水時桶內水係由上灑淋桶內既過濾物.. 咁可以令過濾效果更好.. 但不良效果係會另主缸水位有時高有時低.. 咁你用skimmer就要小心囉..

Thanks jay & william!

We haven't placed any filter cotton/sponge inside the canister, except the prefilter sponge at the water inflow.

We consulted the sales in the FS tonight and they suggested us to clean the pump head, as water may trapped and blocked the air intake tube.
But this didn't help, as no water inside.

Finally, as don't know what else to do, my husband cleaned the prefilter sponge. Know what, it works!!!

And the difference between the highest & lowest water level increased a lot!

It's really very dirty as we haven't cleaned it since we started the tank around 3 months ago!

pre-filter妳指係吸水咀舊棉? 我只知桶內係唔應該放過濾綿既姐...

Yes, its the one placed outside the water intake tube. There's no cotton/sponge inside the canister.

其實妳發覺個上水/充水週期一長左...就表示你個虹吸管落水因為舊棉塞塞地所致... 勤d洗綿啦...仲有妳d魚魚點呀?

Since the filter has been running well, I didn't pay much attention on it, just concentrating on the fishes & the anemones (newly bought).

As you've mentioned that the wet/dry function can be disabled by blocking the middle air intake hole, I just thought it is because of the air-intake and even stopped my husband cleaning the sponge in the first night ... so now we've learnt the lesson and of course will clearn it more frequently.

My fishes are very healthy and strong. The bullet damsel, being too fierce, was moved to start up the QT, which NO2 now close to 0. In the MT, we now have 2 damsels, 3 firebirds, 2 "algae-eating" snails, 2 doctor shimps, 1 anemone shimp, and 4 anemones. Since my husband insists that the anemones need clown fishes, we have 2 clown fishes in the QT, to be moved to the MT soon. They have been staying there for around 2 weeks and my husband wants to move them to MT immediately. But I prefer to wait after CNY as we'll be out during the holidays.

My husband's next target is a small "blue circle".

點解塞條氣喉會癈個wet/dry武功..??

其實充水時水泵抽水係俾個發泡膠下既塞塞住個泵既抽水口.. 水就利用虹吸管原理引水入桶內.. 所以桶咪要有個放氣口放氣俾水入囉..

當充到咁上下水.. 水既浮力會浮起個發泡膠塞.. 咁水就泵番上主缸.. 因泵水快過虹吸管引水入桶既速度.. 所以桶內水會小左發泡膠個塞又沉番又塞住個水泵抽水位. 充水程序又開始過..

如果癈個wet dry武功? 只要係一個正常運行中既wet/dry桶熄左個電.. 等到成個桶充滿水直至氣喉水位到主缸既水位高度..咁你就可以塞住個氣喉口.. 你一俾電.. 咁自然成為一個普通既冇wet/dry桶.. 但桶內既過濾記住仍然係水由上至下流架....
