Regarding the noise from Prizm, there is no way to overcome it. However, I use a timer to switch on the Prizm at 7:30am and turn it off at 11:30. Day time I don't notice much about the noise but only at night. Really, I don't think the skimmer needs to turn on 24hours. Say the pump is 200L per hour, with 16 hours of operation each drop of water is being treated to the skimming process 16 times a day for a 200L tank. For my tank, I have two filters (Eheim 2227 and Wisdom L40), I also have Prizm and UV and no UGF. It is hard to judge for sure if it is enough, it depends how many fishes you have. If you only keep, say not more than 15 inches of fishes in the 30" tank, Wisdom should be enough. However, it is still better to lay a thin layer of sand. If you lay 0.5 inch of sand, it is almost the same effectiveness as laying UGF with 0.5" of sand (just my opinion). Because the bio-load could still reach the bottom of the 0.5" sand bed. UGF only makes a difference with thicker layer of sand (say 1" to 3"). Lastly about this Wisdom filter, the reason why I purchased it because it is narrow and fits nicely into the carbinet with my Eheim 2227. Filters are almost the same and it is not important which one you buy. Personally I would find one that fits my budget and fit the space. The bigger the canister filter compartment (the place where you put your bioring / crush coral) the more effective the filter is. Flow rate is not too important. No water leakage and all the accessories are quite good. Almost all things are made in China these day and they are good quality. It comes with a Japanese manual and a Chinese one. Still I think the construction is quite good. |
