It also makes difference for a FOT and Reef tank. As shopkeeper at Rivulet said, Reef tank doesn't need a larger sump than FOT, because Liverock will performe the biological function. Then, it seems more practical to setup a larger sump whether you are about to convert into a reef tank. Right?

Local Fish Store again!! My sump is about 1/2 of my main tank (2,200L). Try to order your sump as large as possible. You need those "Tiny Tiny Things" inside your sump to feed your main tank. Try to put more live rock and different algae inside your sump. Oh, don't forget the DSB.
