Hi folks, Many of you guys out there have considered to buy a chiller for your marine fish & reefs. I guess especially the RT keeper. But often the equipment cost an arm or a leg. I myself only keeping a FOT but still found if I can add a water cooler for my fish can do more good than harm during summer days. Due to my job nature and dealing with Thermo electric cooler business for years and I come across with the semi-coductor called "Peltier Element cooling module" (see enclosed photos for Peltier element and cooling module assembly ) and found it can be converted for the use as water cooler. Infact this is not something new but there are few water chiller product is already out in the U.S. market for selling using the same type of technology, but the prices are still high. This type of chiller can cool down the water temperature within a limited volume. I would be thinking is good for most Hong Kong fish keeper since we usually has small tank like myself and believed it can be use in the tank with less than 200L. As for the cooling performance, I expected it can lower 5 to 6 degree C than surrounding temperature within the 200L. Certianly, the volume of the water can also affected the cooling performance too. Although, I have not conducting any test on my above theory. But soon, I will attempt to draft a construction drawing and make a sample for testing in DIY water cooler (part 2).
