Posted by: chauym Posted on: 2003-08-08 23:50 i have a new tank about 200L with a 1 red sea protein skimmer 2 a undergravel filtration using coral sands... 3 a 18lb live stone 4 air pump 5 external power filter ... with biostone and carbon however i set up the tank for about 3 week.... i have many test for the sea water, the result is pH more than 10.... the NH3 nitrate level is very low the fish is keep having some skin disease..... and die esp for "nemo" type fish...... the KH is about 10...... within the normal range ... may anyone suggest why the pH is so high thank you very much... | |

Posted by: nebula Posted on: 2003-08-09 00:37 Hi chauym : Please check the PH value of your tape water first in order to clarify your PH tester is accurate or not. In case your PH tester is okay and the reading is reliable, your can make some water changes (said 1/3) to lower the PH level. | |

Posted by: chauym Posted on: 2003-08-09 02:10 hi nabula thank you for your kind suggestion for the pH i use the pH solution indicator to test and it is about neutral for my tape water. so i change the water... the water mixed with the salt is about 8.3 to 8.5 i will check the tank pH again tomorrow also hope my fish can stand for this sudden change of enviroment la hehe thanks alot | |
