Posted by: stevechan Posted on: 2003-06-09 16:35 A friend of mind is a coral fish lover, but he go home quite late, so he just ask a shop to modify a 18W and 36W T8 tube into dimmerable, so when he go home, he could turn the light on slowly. In this case, the fish will not scare whenever he turn the light on. The result is quite good. He told me that it cost around $600, price include workmenship and material ,i think it is worth. Does anyone try this..? Please advise as i want to do the same. | |

When I turn the lamp on, I will slowly increase the light intensive by using dimmerable ballast instead of just turn-it on. I think it is more similar to nature. However, in the existing Dimmerable ballast, the lamp will be flashing when the lamp is dimmed very dark. Also, Dimmed condition of the lamp will cause reduce the lamp life. I am afraid it will increase the running cost very much. As you know, T5HO is very $$$. | |
