Posted by: Wilbert Posted on: 2002-04-07 14:32 This is the second time i have my blue circle have white thin layer cover the fish body. Spread from small area to whole body in around 2 weeks. During the time, fin is ok, still eating. swimming around. no cloud eye. no swollow. shit is normal. Breath is ok, except the white layer is spreading and become thicker, until a point the fish have rotted fin in 1 day and die in next day (i believed the fish was so weaken and infect by bacteria). I tried to use yellow powder and fresh-water bath in my first blue circle but no improvement, and finally die. NO2, NO3 and KH/PH is ok. I brought another one and is good for 3 weeks, then the case happened again. Is it fungus? Beside just change water and wait, whatelse is recommended. Pls Help.

Posted by: wwlworld Posted on: 2002-04-07 21:50 How about your other fishes ? Only happened to your 2 blue circles ? You mentioned about white patch slowly spreading all over the body. Actually, it could be bacteria, it could just simply be that the fish was losing color (often angelfish would lose their color and fade to pale). How old is your tank ? And what are the set up ? It could just be that the water is not stable for sensitive fish like blue circle. Small blue circle is sensitive to water quality and disturbances.

Posted by: Wilbert Posted on: 2002-04-09 11:54 My tank is just 3 months old and a number of "open-tank" fish died already. Now, only 2 blue deaman and 2 doctor shrimp + 1 blue circle left. The blue deaman and doctor shrimp has been in tank since open and they are in perfect health. I keep on change water 20% on every 2 days. The white layer spread to 1/3 of skin already. Besides that, the fish seems very ok and eating fast. Anyone has similar situation before????

Posted by: LC Posted on: 2002-04-12 09:41 omicron, I do not have the opportunity of using formalin in the treatment of fish diseases. According to reports, it has been used for the treatment of fish diseases for many years with great success. You may find information here - http://www.fishdoc.co.uk/treatments/malachite.htm

Posted by: Wilbert Posted on: 2002-04-13 02:43 Yellow powder is the ordinary one for cure fish bacteria. $8-$10 per pack. TDC = Taiyo Disceases Control $48 per bottle (very large one) LC, I have read the article you mentioned but they usually describe the fish has fast respiration. But my blue circle don't have this symtom. So I am still not sure what disceases hit the fish.
