Posted by: Brian Posted on: 2002-10-17 00:51 I am a total newbie in keeping fishes but am very keen to start and put in effort to learn. I have spent quite some time in reading web sites and all the posts in this and other forums through the past week. Just to find out that this hobby is a interesting but very hard to master one. I have understood that starting a tank can varies a lot on the cost and that different equipment can give very different results. Personally, I am very interested in starting and want to start off with some decent equipment within my own budget. ($6000-$8000 excluding cost of fishes) I have paid 2 visits to fish street and talked to some of the shops. I've found that most of the shops are not very helpful or even dishonest when they felt you are a newbie. Here is the tank I am looking for : 36" X 20" X 24" possibly with a sump. The tank will be mainly for keeping fishes not live corals I really need some advise on what equipment is necessary (and a rough estimation of their price, so I won't be cheated too much) to have a good start. P.S. I have asked 2 shops and they have quoted me $3000-$3800 for the tank and sump with size mentioned above, to my understanding they should be a lot cheaper than this...... that's why I am really scared of being cheated) Thank you to you all who could help me:) Oh, by the way, any good suggestion of books or magazines I can gather more information from ? | |
