I have kept this Blue Tang for 8 months. It was about 1 inch in the beginning. It is now about 4 inches and it has developed HLLE (Head & lateral line erosion) for some months. The condition is deteriorating. I have tried the following method to treat the condition.

1) Net the fish out.
2) Apply a disinfectant (chlorhexidine) directly onto the site of problem with a cotton stick for a minute daily.
3) Flush the fish under tap water to rinse away the disinfectant.
4) Put it back into a plastic box inside the tank.
5) The whole course of treatment so far is about 2 weeks.

Results
About 80% improvement of the original HLLE.

I will continue to treat the fish like this for a while and report the results soon.

我的藍吊生了頭洞多個月，範圍越來越大，情況越來越差，查看網上資料，有很多不同的說法，有說頭洞是因為缺乏維他命、缺乏微量完素、營養不良、水質欠佳、病毒傳染病、寄生蟲、迷走電壓等等，未有定論。但用各自的方法處理時，都有成功的個案報告，由此看來，頭洞可能祗是病徵，而有很多不同的病因，正如人的皮膚病，一樣有很多不同的病因。

因此，我便抱著一試何妨的心態，試用消毒藥水看看有沒有效。

步驟–
1) 用魚網把魚撈起
2) 每天用棉花棒直接搽消毒藥水(chlorhexidine)在頭洞上，約一分鐘內完成
3) 開水喉直接沖洗魚頭兩、三秒，把消毒藥水沖走
4) 把魚放回魚缸的膠盒中

我進行了約兩星期的試驗，頭洞有明顯改善，額頭兩旁幾乎完全康復，魚鰓上亦有約八成的改善，近眼處較難搽藥，改善較少。

消毒藥水(chlorhexidine)完本是人用的傷口消毒藥水，在魚街可能沒有得賣，有興趣的魚友可試試其他消毒藥水，我想沙威龍也可一試。

omicron, 治療時間每天一次每次祗用一分鐘，其他時候照常進食。

It struggles when I net it out of the water causing spilling of water onto everywhere. The disinfectant is applied to the erosion when the fish is still in the net. It is surprisingly quite cooperative during the treatment for most of the time. Its colour turns pale for a while after the treatment but returns to normal soon. Overall speaking, its behaviour is normal during the whole course of treatment.

Posted by: LC Posted on: 2002-09-18 21:54 The erosion on both sides of the nose and the right side of forehead had recovered after about three weeks of treatment. The erosion on the left side of forehead is getting smaller but only partially heal even after three months of treatment. The juv. Koran is getting bigger of the size about 3.5" now and is changing colour already.

Posted by: LC Posted on: 2002-09-19 11:17 omicron, Kenny 我估計頭洞由不同原因引致，因此用不同的方法都有成功的例子。而用消毒藥水直接搽患處可以減少頭洞面積看來，我的魚的頭洞帶有傳染病的成分，消毒藥水把引致傳染病的病原殺死後頭洞便復原。

上面的藍紋由2吋大開始養了約九個月，現在3吋半，頭洞已起了大概4個月吧，由左面額頭先起，後來右面額頭和鼻的兩面都有，面積越來越大，便決心試試醫好牠。當時我的可憐太后皮包骨快死之際，我用消炎藥(tetracycline + flagyl)開水浸牠把牠醫好，多出來的消炎藥水便用來試浸藍紋，看看有沒有用，浸了2星期後藍紋右面額頭和鼻的頭洞完全復原，但左面的頭洞沒有好轉，心想消炎藥有效的話，直接用消毒藥水搽也可能有用，一試無妨，便用牠和藍吊一起試藥，結果藍吊大致上3星期內兩面的頭洞都完全康復，但藍紋左面額頭上的頭洞面積小了但仍未能完全康復，看來要試試其他方法。

不知有沒有其他魚友試過以上方法，結果如何？我也想知道。

Kent Zoe is a kind of vitamin, it contains of algae, so it is in green colour. While the Kent Zoecon is a fish-liver-oil which stated that it can heal the head-hole of fishes. Zoecon is in milky colour. They are both available at "Tai Po Chiu" in FS. Zoe $60 & Zoecon $120. However, Zoecon is always out of stock!

P.S. my experience is that they are helpful on the cure of head-hole. The statement on Zoecon said that it is better to use it with Zoe.

The erosion had been getting smaller in the last two weeks after I soaked the fish into a solution with tetracycline, flagyl and one more drug, formalin. Tetracycline and flagyl had been tried before but the erosion did not heal completely after a course of two weeks. The ersosion remained at that size for months already. I restarted the treatment again with the addition of formalin for bathing this time, the erosion begins to get smaller again. :)
