It depends on where you are going to collect the sand. Airpump - cost HK$25 Synthetic marine salt - don't use tiolet water because it is full of diseases. A bag of Marine Environment will cost you HK$58 but last a long time for merely 15" tank. Fishes: Clown fish $10 each; Firedart $20 for 3 from Chuen Ho, Damsels etc. Just play by the budget. Marine fish keeping does cost money. Fresh water fish keeping is more straight-forward. | |

Remember that don't introduce all your lovely fishes into your tank at the same time. Introduce two or three, than, wait and observe them for at least two weeks; if there is nothing wrong on them, get another two or three. Since your tank is a small one, a golden rule you should bear in mind that, more the fishes in your tank, less the feeding times and volume for them. Maybe, you need to take a water change more frequently to get rid of worse water condition. Hope you can succeed. | |

"最好"加多一個平價的protein skimmer. That's all about the filtration part...:) 2. If 剩係養魚+蝦+生物石: 濾水器放棉及生物環/AquaChargers, 可以接駁UGF...That's it. ----------------------- 夏天水溫太高的話(over 30度)可以加電腦散熱扇降溫至約28度... 以上兩種方法的養魚量都要控制在6條之內(例如魔魚, clowns, 龍等等, 仙魚及吊最好唔好試, 一定唔得)... ---------------------- 其實都仲有好多細節野架...唔識就上黎問下啦...我都係咁樣...:D | |

NO3(養corals先需要) 其它乜鬼野ca, cu, kh...唔好理佢算喇...(但最好不要用含銅藥醫魚, otherwise, your live rock and corals (if any) will suffer and additonal test kit for copper will also be needed...xx() NO2 tester較PH tester貴, Hagen呢隻牌子可以用最多次...又最平...(在卡奇買啦!) | |

Posted by: omicron Posted on: 2002-07-05 05:39 I had a 15" tank for a year.....which accomdated up to about 10 fish!....and i just switch to a 20" for about 7 months... i think...actually...u can just have a simple try and test out your own understanding of the whole salewater aquarium systems...although u may loss some fish....but u will learn a great lesson from them for my 15" tank....i just use UGF and the built in "on the top" filter system...simple and easy....no live rocks, no complicated sand bed, no protein skimmer (i dun have a skimmer for my 20" tank too)...all u need is just to buy a bottle of denitriflying bacteria ( i use Cycle, about $40 for medium size bottle).....no expensive Aquachargers, Biochem Stars nor bio balls/rings, coral sand is already very very enough personally, i dun agree on heavily invest on equipment, unless u wanna keep corals....so just go ahead and have a try!:) | |

So the more research you do now may make you even more confused - use UGF or not, put more LR or not, use skimmer or not.... Sometimes we learn best through experiencing by ourselves, of course, there's always a price to pay for learning. You should put one step forward and I agree with Omic that you should not invest too much now if you're still not sure how far you'll go. Make use of your existing equipment and keep something tough and simple. Enjoy :) | |
