大部份的卵子已經散下(在網袋內), 有六七隻2mm度的幼苗在游泳.:D:D:D

I saw an article saying that the eggs take between 36-48hrs to hatch.

The description from another article also very similar to my case:

I've the same experience many times as b5 case, however, I could not keep any of the babies. :(:(

Gundaman, you are trying to keep the baby shrimps, right? Hope you can succeed. :)

I just knew little about breeding, mainly from the previously-menitoned web page. But I can still afford to share something with you.:)

My procedures are as follow:

1. Place the pregnant shrimp in a breeding net (mine one was got at Rivulet for $15, don't use those for breeding fishes, as recommended by the shopkeeper) in your main tank;
2. Continue feeding the shrimp directly by your hand/tool - I feed it with dry food/krill;
3. Observe the color of the eggs - details can be found at previously-menitoned web page;
3. One day it doesn't accept any food - a sign to 散下卵子 - I think it occurs at night/dark room;
4. 孵出幼苗 in 36-48 hours - difference maybe occur;
5. ...............................(I know nothing yet.:))

BUT I will siphon out the eggs/幼苗 in a separate plastic box with an air pump tonight. Also, I think feeding them with anamone food (those food for filter-feeder) is enough, becuase 幼苗 are only able to eat by filtering water.

You are right, b5, 原來D幼苗已經全部在一晚內孵出, 只是大部份藏了在網底.:) 估計有百多隻.:D Over 80% is alive.:D

Here's the schedule for my reference (and your reference):

History: 2.5" pregnant doctor shrimp was purchased on 30 May. It was already came with "green-eggs". It lived with boxing shrimp and other tankmates (including doctor shrimps) in a tank without any separation - but not that pacefully with boxing shrimp;

02 June:

I separated the pregnant doctor shrimp into a breeding net at midnight;

03 June:

The larvaes were being found on the breeding net's base. (The larvaes were hatched most likely at between midnight, 02 June and morning, 03 June);

By using a siphoning device from Hagen's test kit, I siphoned all the larvaes into a plastic cylinder with tank's water and an air pump (air output=min.) to avoid eating back of the larvaes by the adult doctor shrimp.

剛剛生產完的醫生蝦 - 等佢再換殼後才放回缸中(simply for 等佢D天線生番完整先, 並冇乜特別要求話要換殼後才可放回缸中的), 而家佢都只是食少少野:

D幼苗實在太細(1-2mm長)(大部份在箱底), 我部DC又只是入門級機種, 很難拍到一幅較清晰的相片給你們看.:(

睇住呢幅先啦!!! 等我唸下有乜方法先.:D

I am sorry to tell you some bad news. But I have to. I suddenly wake up at 2:45am. I found that half of the larvaes were dead.:(

Yours doubt maybe a reference to those who are too fantasy/optimistic by the breeding of the shrimps (including me).:I

It's really a hard job. But I still learn a lot during this little moment - first time to see how larvaes look like. See my little babies next time.:D

Aquarium shrimps bearing high price have its reasons.:):):)

But I will try again when my shrimp pregnant next time.:)

Gundaman,

Hatching and breeding shrimps is a very very hard job. If you're really interested in the subject, you may consult Wankel who's an expert in this area. :)

Thanks for your inspiration.:) Then, if there is another chance to raise, do you think that I shouldn't take the larvaes (inside the breeding net) out of the main tank?

I haven't monitor the temperature inside the plastic cylinder at all. But I wonder if there's a large difference in temperature inside the cylinder and my main tank (without using heater)???

Today's morning, I saw less than 20 larvaes still active. When I back home tonight, I think none of them would survive. I won't get upset anyway, as I said before, "隨緣啦".:) I already put 2 cleaner shrimps together in a breeding net to wait for another breeding period.:D:D:D

I've the same result as you. My last baby shrimps died five days after she was born. I'd kept on aeration and change the main tank's water into the breeding box on alternate days. However,............................

我4/6前日係北極星買魚個陣...要左隻醫生蝦...番到屋企睇佢已經生左好多BB係個袋入面..我就擺D.BB係個箱仔度淨係氣喉打氣..........

5/6尋日我即刻去中興買個細布綱籠黎養住.BB...仲同埋睇下有冇輪蟲同綠水...點知去到係"""過晒期呀..."""O..FXXK.,我再打電話俾SAVIO,..佢話冇都冇問題..羅葵糧黎餵住先啦...咁都好過冇啦(但係好污濁呀)...番到屋企(好睬未死)...即刻整好左個布綱籠...就擺晒佢地落去啦.......嘩!好壯觀.....成百隻蝦仔...游黎游去呀...我急不及代...閂燈同整兩滴葵糧落去呀...但係佢地咁Q細隻..都唔知佢地食唔食到...但係是但啦...不過"野"來好多不畜之客..係咁咬個籠...但係咬左兩野就走左囉...嚇得我丫...我幾驚D魚...吸左佢地出黎...................攪到十一點幾要訓啦

6/6今日..起身即刻去睇下.....WOW...!!!(D蝦唔係大左好多)....而係唔見左好多呀.....唔知係D個綱既窿窿...大丫定係佢地細...唉.........就係咁啦.....

呢兩日都有盡左好多責任啦...

I put the still-survived larvaes (about 10) back into the breeding net inside the tank. It seems better than separating them in another container.

I only feed them with 葵糧 from the day they hatched - it seems okay.:D

But I am not too optimistic with the larvaes that they can become baby shrimps - it takes more than 3 months as I knew from other web pages.
