PH 8.0~8.4 NH3/4 = 0 NO3 < 20 ppm ( the best range ) this is the basic requirement. | |

But it is totally avoidable if you may read more infomration before starting the hobby. This forum contains a lot of valuable experience contributed by other hobbists. You may go through them first and then we can discuss any points that you want to clarify. | |
